12 Easy Ways to Make Money with Your Smartphone

Updated on by in Make Money Online

It is summer, damn it! Who wants to wear a suit? Who wants to watch the beautiful days go by from the inside of an office? Certainly not me! For that reason, I’ve put together a list of ways that I can make money from the park, on my iPhone, while sipping a cold brew on occasion. And, just because I’m a nice guy, I thought I’d share them with you!

Then you can join me, we can drink beers together, and who knows, perhaps get a little jiggy with it. I hear there’s a great show down town. As long as they’ve got Wi-Fi, we’re golden!

1. Easy Shift
Do micro-tasks like checking prices, seeing if products are in stock and taking photos of store displays. When done you’ll get money forwarded to your Paypal account within 48 hours. It doesn’t pay that much – somewhere between 2 to 20 US, but if you do enough of such tasks, you’ll be able to make ends meet and won’t be needing anything else. And if you’re out and about anyway, why not, right?

2. Field Agent

This one is similar to Easy shift, in that you’re doing micro tasks for retailers like checking shelf availability, as well as checking demon and display compliance. Here the payment can go anywhere from $2 to $12. Again, you’ll need a Paypal account to make this work.

3. Swagbucks
Okay, they don’t give you money exactly, but then money is only the stuff you use to get other stuff and that you can certainly get through Swagbucks. You can get coupons, gift cards, vouchers and more. And these you can trade in at your shops, like Starbucks, Amazon and Target.

So no, you won’t be able to live off them (unless you want to try a diet of Starbucks scones), but you’ll be able to make the hit on your budget a heck of a lot smaller. And that means fewer hours spent in an office, right?

To earn SBs you just need to watch videos, use their tool bar while you’re surfing, or referring friends. Since that’s what most of us do anyway, that doesn’t sound so bad.

4. Gigwalk
Like to go for walks? Then Gigwalk is for you. Here the idea is that you go explore and find out if things are in order. For example, by making certain public transportation networks work as advertised, road signs are in the right place and checking out geographical landmarks.

5. GymPact
Gympact is like a bet. If you exercise, then you get paid. But if you don’t go then you’ve got to pay. Now, it’s not much, but if you’re a gym bunny then it’s a nice little bonus to get you motivated, keep you going and push you to greater heights of fitness.

And who knows, maybe you can then use that to Gigrun, instead of just Gigwalk. There’s only upsides (provided you go).

6. Locket
Don’t mind seeing an ad on your phone every so often? Then grab Locket. With this app, when you unlock your phone you see an ad. You can swipe one way to interact, the other to get rid of it. Either way, you get paid.

And that’s it. That’s all you’ve got to do. The more often you unlock your phone during the day, the more ads you see, and the more money you make. And all that for one extra motion per unlock. That ain`t bad at all!

7. Receipt Hog
Do a lot of shopping for the family? Then grab this app, which will give you money, every time you upload a receipt to their website from any grocer, club store, super-center and similar stores. Got a big family? Even better, because the bigger your bill, the more you earn. You can submit 20 receipts per week.

What do they get out of it? They use it for market research – find out what items are bought together and what gets sold more often in what corner of the world. Whatever, you get paid. And that will be certain to take the sting out of your shopping.

8. Shopkick

If you’re a shopaholic then this is the app for you. Just walking into the right shop will get you points, as well as scanning certain bar codes, browsing through look books and referring friends. These you can then use for gift cards and vouchers to get your goods for free. And as there are two ways to make money – make more and spend less – that’s simply a golden opportunity.

9. Viggle
Get paid to listen to music and watch TV. Yes, that’s right, you read that correctly. Watch shows and movies, answer a few questions, check out bonus shows and more to have the points rolling in. These you can then redeem for vouchers and even cash. Sweet, right?

10. BerryCart
Health food prices kicking your but? Then get the BerryCart app. With it you can scan health food items and scan the recipe to immediately get a rebate. That way you can stay thin in body and fat in the pocket. Awesome, right?

11. Shrink
This one’s a lot like other money back receipt apps on the list, except that here you can also use the time you’re standing at the check out to learn something about the products you’re buying or aren’t yet buying.

Yup, that’s right, you get paid to learn. Now that’s a pretty sweet deal as far as I’m concerned! Now obviously, the idea is to make you buy the product, but this is a soft-sell strategy I can appreciate. And besides, if you don’t like it, you don’t buy it the next time, right?

12. ThredUp
Got lots of stuff in your wardrobe that you’re not using? Then become a ThredUp member, stuff your unused clothes into a bag that they send you, send it back and get credits for what you send! They pay about the same as most thrift shops and, as they’re not as restricted by space, they also accept off-season items. These you can then use to buy new products from their site!

There’s even a referral system, whereby you can earn extra money just by signing up with somebody else who already has the app, or by signing up new people. 20 bucks! That’s nothing to sneeze at.

I think they also repair items, because the stuff I have bought looks as good as new.
